Asher can’t look away from him. He needs to just focus on him and he knows this is hard. But he doesn’t want to leave him. Asher and Joshua had been through a lot. He had waited over six months for him and now? There was a lot of shit going on and they both had to handle it. He would send Julia away with somebody he trusted. She didn’t need to be here while they were dealing with things. It was hard for them both. Asher had much more going on than he told Joshua and honestly he knew he should share. He had killed a lot of their numbers, they wouldn’t be letting him get away with that. There was no way that he could.

“Yes it is.” Asher stated, hearing how his heartbeat picked up. He wasn’t about to give up and let Joshua push him away as well. He knew if he left with Julia she would just make him turn around. He closed his eyes for a moment then opened them. “If you start with the my sister my problem we’re gonna have a problem. Everything with the Fireflies isn’t just on you. I made choices too. It’s not like it’s only on you. We can find Elena together it’d be easier that way. I’m not going to abandon you. You are stuck with me. We both have stuff going on and you and I need to manage.”

Joshua pressed his lips together in exasperation. There were so many negative traits that coincided with the Salvatore name; this right here was one of the best (and worst) ones. Stefan and Damon had always been so loyal to Elena – and Katherine, centuries ago – and Jeremy had never understood it. And now, standing before Asher, the disbelief played plainly on his face. He had never done anything to inspire such dedication. Not even his own sister, his absolute priority in this life, stood by him like this. She pushed him away, made his decisions for him, and broke his heart– because it was hers to break.

“You are so fuckin’ frustrating,” he exhaled between tight lips, his gaze flickering between his eyes. Without much hesitation, Joshua reached out and pulled the vampire into a desperate kiss. The argument was far from over– he had to let Asher go before all their actions caught up to him. He was, after all, the one who would suffer the consequences for the past year. But for now, he could put it aside to show how sorry he was– how much he wished he didn’t need him, and how grateful he was for what they had.
